2023 Region 9 DII Volleyball Players of the Week

Week 1 - 8/14/23 to 8/20/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Liv Swanson from Central Community College. Liv had 21 kills (3.0/set) and an efficiency of .246 with 2 aces, 19 digs, and 4 assisted blocks to lead the Raiders to a 2-0 start!
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Ali Miller from Central Community College. Ali led the Raiders with 28 digs (4.0 per set) and had 2 aces. Raiders started the season 2-0.

Week 2 - 8/21/23 to 8/27/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Vanessa Wood from North Platte Community College. Vanessa had 53 kills over 5 games; 0.145 hitting %; 6 serving aces and 7 blocks
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Jaelyn Dicke from North Platte Community College. Jaelyn had 60 digs over 5 games; 3.16 digs per set for the week

Week 3 - 8/28/23 to 9/3/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Josie Bentz from Central Community College. Josie, a freshman middle hitter led the Raiders with 43 kills, .276 efficiency, 2 aces, and 11 blocks. The Raiders faced four ranked opponents and had wins over #15 and #18 for the week.   
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Ali Miller from Central Community College. Ali had 67 (5.58 per set) digs and 6 aces for the week for the Raiders. The Raiders saw great competition with wins over #15 and #18.

Week 4 - 9/4/23 to 9/10/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Alyssa Wilson from Southeast Community College. Alyssa had 21 kills vs. OK. Wes. JV. averaged 3.75 k's per set this week for the Bobcats. She had 5 aces, 3 blocks and 38 digs.
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Halie Kaslon from Central Community College. Halie had 36 digs (4.5 per set) and 3 aces in wins over Highland CC and #14 Northeast CC. Halie had some extremely clutch defensive plays in the win over Northeast.

Week 5 - 9/11/23 to 9/17/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Lauryn Scott from Central Community College. Lauryn had 23 kills hitting .327 in wins over McCook and North Platte. Lauryn also had 15 assisted blocks and 2 solo blocks in 9 sets played. Average of 1.89 blocks per set.

Week 6 - 9/18/23 to 9/24/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Vanessa Wood from North Platte Community College. Vanessa had 22 kills and 21 digs against Northeast
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Halie Kaslon from Central Community College. Halie had 30 digs in wins over SCC and Western Iowa Tech last week for an average of 4.28 per set. Halie also had 3 service aces for the Raiders.

Week 7 - 9/25/23 to 10/1/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Chelsea Fisher from Central Community College. Chelsea had 37 kills, averaging 3.36 per set and had an efficiency of .325 
Fisher also had a solo block and 6 block assists. Chelsea was voted on the All Tournament Team at the Cowley Invitational   
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Ali Miller from Central Community College. Ali had 59 digs (4.54 per set) and 5 aces for the week for the Raiders.

Week 8 - 10/2/23 to 10/8/23
Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Lauryn Scott from Central Community College. Lauryn led the Raiders with 47 kills, a .340 efficiency and had 14 assisted blocks, 5 solo blocks and 3 aces.   
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Ali Miller from Central Community College. Ali, a freshman Libero had 87 digs 4.83 per set and 8 aces for the week.

Player of the Week - This week’s Player of the Week is Vanessa Wood from North Platte Community College. Vanessa had 10 kills; .444 hitting % 8 digs against SCC and 35 kills on 65 attempts; 0.354 hitting %, 19 digs against CCC   
Defender of the Week - This week’s Defender of the Week is Libbie Ball from Central Community College. Libbie had 52 assists, 2 blocks, 5 aces and 13 digs to lead the Raiders to the Region 9 Championship
